If faced with a tight floor plan yet still in need of a tabletop to hold books, a lamp, or your laptop? Any area with limited space is the perfect space for a console table, says Patrick (an expert in city living). Look for long and narrow, a classic piece, maybe with shelves or one that opens into a larger surface.
