My name is Johanna Rouw and I have been a design consultant in the Downingtown showroom since 1993.
I grew up in Holland and when I first started working, I had the opportunity to travel the world working for British Airways (then called BOAC). I went to France, Germany, Switzerland, England, Ireland, Japan, and of course Denmark. I think that is where I fell in love with the comfort and beautiful simple designs and the woods of rosewood and teak. When I moved to the USA in the 60s I started my first purchases of Scandinavian furniture for my family. I still have the Poul Cadovius Wall System in rosewood and my children have inherited many of my other Scandinavian pieces that they still use everyday.
One of my favorite pieces, I love to show customers when they are shopping for dining chairs, is our Fairview Chair. I always ask them to have a “sit-test”. I believe, the workmanship is excellent, and it is one of the most comfortable chairs I’ve ever sat on. We carry the chairs in a simple beige fabric that blends with almost everything. However, if you are handy it is very simple to take the seats off and staple on any new fabric you might have fallen in love with.
Another piece I admire at dane decor is our Ashley Sofa Collection. I even purchased one for my own home that I love. What I think is special about my Ashley Sofa is the nice firm seating, plus all the seat cushions are reversible. I just don’t like big over stuffed furniture, I like clean simple uncluttered things.
Lastly, I’ve been delighted helping customers with our Admiral China Cabinet. It has better storage and display area and even comes with lights. It is a well crafted piece of furniture that is small enough to fit into any dining room or family room. Plus, it even has two big drawers for all your table lines. I own one similar to it where I put all my important mementos that I don’t want to get dust on, things from traveling and pictures of my two grown boys and their families.
Please stop in and visit me at the dane decor Downingtown showroom. I would love a chance to help you create the room of your dreams! |
